About Kacie Starr Triplett

Kacie Starr Triplett is a proven visionary who has worked to advance St. Louis and the 6th Ward. As a life-long resident of the 6th Ward, Kacie has devoted her entire career to public service. Kacie is committed to improving the 6th Ward and the St. Louis community. Kacie received her secondary education in the 6th Ward and is a graduate of St. Elizabeth Academy. Prior to elected office, Kacie served as the District Affairs Coordinator for Congressman Russ Carnahan and the Community Outreach Coordinator for former Minority Leader, Dick Gephardt in both Washington, D.C. and St. Louis.

In 2005, Kacie was appointed to the Affordable Housing Commission by Mayor Slay, where she served as the youngest Commissioner in the history of the Affordable Housing Trust Fund. As a Commissioner, Kacie helped oversee a $5.5 million budget for the advancement of affordable housing in St. Louis City. Kacie has worked passionately for political inclusiveness on all levels and is a former fellow with the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation and a Faculty Affiliate for the Sue Shear Institute.

Kacie’s legislative experience has allowed her to have significant impact within the 6th Ward where she has worked closely with elected officials, community leaders and small businesses. Working for the U.S. House of Representatives, Kacie had the opportunity to shape legislation affecting all St. Louis residents. As a staffer for Congressman Carnahan, Kacie played a vital role in developing H.R. 5420, the Preserve Historic America Act, which called for an increase in historic tax credits for the redevelopment and rehabilitation of older homes and buildings. It is an essential piece of legislation dedicated to spurring development and restoration in urban areas.

Kacie is a former small business owner and a property owner. She is the former vice chair of the 6th Ward Democratic Organization, recording secretary for the Young Democrats of Greater St. Louis, a member of the Women’s Political Caucus, and a delegate to the America’s Council of Young Political Leaders.

Kacie holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Hampton University and a Master’s degree in International Relations from Webster University. She resides in the same house she grew up in as a child, in the Tower Grove East neighborhood. She was recently profiled as one of Ebony Magazine's 30 young leaders on the rise.
